In accordance with the 2000 International Property Maintenance Code as
adopted by the City of Missouri City and the Missouri City Code of Ordinances, all sidewalks, driveways, patios,
parking spaces, walkways, stairs or other concrete or asphalt surfaces are to be suitably maintained by the
property owner.
Generally, flatwork should be free of faults or obstructions that may potentially
cause safety risks to pedestrians. However, due to many factors, flatwork may fall into disrepair. Therefore, the
City has created parameters to define hazardous flatwork as listed below. Inspectors will check any items
found to be present.
[ ] A horizontal separation of more than two inches at
either a crack or joint.

[ ] The cross slope of sidewalks is greater than I ~4 inch
per foot.
